My job is a bore, I can’t take it no more
Each day I go in, I wanna walk out the door
But what can I do?
I can’t do nothin’ about it
I deserve a career with dignity
But I have no skills, no college degree
So I’m waitin’ (mm hmmm) for an easy way out.

The man in my bed ain’t the one in my head
I should throw the bum out and live alone instead
I grumble to my friends,
They can’t do nothin’ about it.
At night I’m dreamin’ of a brand new love
But to find that man I’d have to give myself a shove
So I’m waitin’ (mm hmmm) for an easy way out.

I can’t see my toes, can’t fit into my clothes.
My bathroom scale and I have almost come to blows
My doctor lectures me, but
He can’t do nothin’ about it.
Going on a diet is the answer, it’s clear
But a doughnut sure tastes better than a broccoli spear
So I’m waitin’ (mm hmmm) for an easy way out.

BRIDGE
I’m sick of complainin’, but it’s what I do
To cope with life ‘til my dreams come true
Who’s in control here?
It sure isn’t me.

My life is a mess, I must confess
Somewhere I guess I learned to settle for less
The voice in my head says,
“You can’t do nothin’ about it.”
But when my ship comes in or I win the big spin
I’ll meet the right folks and my luck will begin
Till then I’m waitin’ (mm hmmm) for an easy way out.
Yes, I’m waitin’ (mm hmmm) for an easy way out.
